On April 11, 2025, a international practical academic seminar co-organized by “Union of Law Scientists” and M. Auzov South Kazakhstan University was dedicated to the topic: “Actual problems of law and law enforcemets”. The seminar was held online, via Zoom. Zurab Chkonia and Kakha Tsikarishvili participated in the event from the Union of Law Scientists. Online international scientific discussion “Foreign Influence Transparency Legislation from a Civil Society and Human Rights Perspective” will be organized by Union of Law Scientists.”
Models of foreign influence transparency legislation, opinions of the Venice Commission and OSCE regarding the Georgian law, and parliamentary debates related to the adoption of the law will be discussed at the event. This event is the first attempt to organize academic discussion on this topic.

Nick Robinson – Senior Legal Advisor of the International Center for Non-Business Law (ICNL) (USA). His research deals with the issue of foreign influence legislation and the relationship with the civil sector. He testified to the US Congress on the challenges to FARA. His research has appeared in numerous academic journals, including the Duke Law Journal, Cornell Law Review, and Minnesota Law Review.
Presentation topic: Foreign Influence Transparency Legislation and Civil Society – A Comparative Overview.
Kakha Tsikarishvili, Member of the Union of Law Scientists, Professor of the Institute of Public Affairs of Georgia. He is the author of several academic articles.
Presentation topic: Opinions of the Venice Commission and the OSCE on the law of Georgia on transparency of foreign influence; Parliamentary debates related to the consideration of the draft law.
Each presentation will be followed by a discussion.

On December 14, 2022, an online international scientific discussion on the topic “Causality of omission in French and Georgian criminal law” was held through the Zoom platform, co-organized by the “Union of Law Scientists” and the Institute of Criminal Law Sciences and Criminology of the University of Aix-Marseille (France).

On March 2, 2024, an online scientific discussion on the topic “Mechanisms for speeding up the consideration of cases in court – international experience and Georgian legislation” was held through the Zoom platform, organized by the “Union of Law Scientists.”
Members of the Union of Law Scientists, professors Kakha Tsikarishvili and Shalva Kurdadze, made presentations as speakers.
At the end of the presentations there was a discussion.

A Memorandum of Cooperation with South Kazakhistan University named after M.Auezov
Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Union of Law Scientists and the South Kazakhistan University named after M.Auezov (Kazakhistan, Shymkent).
According to the memorandum, it is planned to actively cooperate with the National Aviation University of Ukraine, in particular, jointly organize and conduct scientific conferences, seminars, discussions in the field of scientific research and higher education, etc.
Union of Law Scientific Meeting and Awards
October 22, 2023
On October 21, a meeting of members of the “Union of Law Scientists” took place in the conference hall of East European University. The Chairman of the Union, Zurab Chkonia, made a report on the activities performed and spoke about the existing challenges. At the end, the awarding ceremony was held.
Meritorious scientists were awarded certificates of honor for their special contribution to the development of the science of law – Otar Gamkrelidze and Gia Mefarishvili.
Kakha Tsikarishvili and Maya Tskitishvili were awarded certificates of honor for their contribution to the development of the Union, and Ketevan Mchedlishvili-Herdikhi, Roin Migriakhrauli, Dodo Julukhashvili, Gocha Ochipma, Orishvili, Irma Merebashvili and Bakur Liluashvili were awarded certificates for their contribution to the Union.
Eastern European University, Grigol Robakidze University, Tbilisi Educational Humanities University, Georgian-European Academy of Education – Veto, Training Center “Intellecti” and lawyer Dimitri Gabunia were also awarded certificates for promoting the activities of the Union.

International Day of Science at Grigol Robakidze University and presentation of an honorary certificate to the University

On November 9, at the Grigol Robakidze University, the chairman of the “Union of Law Scientists”, Zurab Chkonia, who was invited to the event held in connection with the International Day of Science, addressed the representatives of academic circles participating in the meeting. Zurab Chkonia congratulated them on the International Day of Science and spoke about the importance of promoting science and its development and for this purpose the cooperation between the Union and Robakidze University.
At the end, Zurab Chkonia officially handed over the award/certificate of honor issued in the name of Grigol Robakidze University to the vice-rector of the university, Mr. Vakhtang Charaya, on behalf of the “Union of Law Scientists” – for promoting the activities of the Union.
Gocha Ochigawa, a member of the Union and associate professor of Robakidze University, was awarded with an honorary certificate of the Union for his contribution to the development of the “Union of Law Scientists”.

A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Union of Law Scholars and the Eastern European University.
According to the memorandum, the parties will hold joint academic conferences, as well as trainings, public lectures, seminars on current and problematic legal issues.
The parties also plan to cooperate in the field of academic research and higher education.
Anniversary Evening of Professor Otar Gamkrelidze, Co-Founder of the Union, was Held
With co-organization of Union of Legal Scientists and Tinatin Tsereteli Institute of State and Law, an evening dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Professor Otar Gamkrelidze, a co-founder of the Union of Legal Scientists and a member of the Union of Legal Scientists was held on March 20, 2022.
The event was held through a platform Zoom.
The anniversary evening was attended by distinguished figures of Georgian law, representatives of scientific organizations, universities, courts, legislative and executive bodies, as well as non-governmental organizations.
The event was hosted by Professor Mindia Ugrekhelidze.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Union of Legal Scientists Zurab Chkonia and congratulated Mr. Otar Gamkrelidze on his jubilee. Zurab Chkonia, who, at the same time, is Editor-In-Chief of the international scientific journal “Herald of Law”, published by Union of Legal Scientists, noted that the Union of Legal Scientists plans to publish a special issue of the journal “Herald of Law”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Mr. Otar Gamkrelidze. He also informed the attendees that the publisher is open to cooperation and welcomes any support regarding the publication of the anniversary issue. The Director of the Tinatin Tsereteli Institute of State and Law, Mr. Lasha Bregvadze, who spoke about the merits of Mr. Otar Gamkrelidze, also congratulated to Mr. Otar Gamkrelidze on his jubilee.
